Saphenous nerve entrapment

Causes

  • Compression by fibrous band at the exit of the adductor canal.
  • Compression by femoral vessels.
  • Iatrogenic (eg. femoral thrombectomy, femoral-popliteal bypass surgery, popliteal aneurysm resection)
  • Compression by nerve sheath tumor.

Symptoms & signs

  • Pain, sensory deficit and paresthesias along the medial aspect of the knee and/or leg.
  • No motor symptoms or signs.
