Radial nerve - cheiralgia paresthetica

Causes

Lesion to superficial cutaneous branch of radial nerve.

  • Injury anywhere in the forearm along the nerve’s course.
  • Entrapment between the tendons of brachioradialis and extensor carpi radialis muscles.

Symptoms & signs

  • Sensory deficit and paresthesia in the radial part of the dorsum of the hand and dorsal aspect of the first 3 fingers and radial half of 4th finger.
  • Pain that might be exacerbated by pinching and gripping.
  • Positive Tinnel sign may be seen with percussion over the nerve.
